Look how cute our little Liv is in our national costume!
A young lady that started her own Bunad (national costume) company aproached me and asked if Liv wanted to be a bunad model for her! She said she'd make it after her measurements if we said yes. IF we would like? Ha ha I thought it was too good to be true! Of course we would want that! Liv needs to start her modeling career, too!!! Just kidding ;)
So we measured Liv and emailed the lady (who's also my brother's friend), Ane! She hand sewed it and came to our house last week to take pictures with us.
Ane is 30 years old, and was a surf instructor in Brazil before she got seriously ill and broke her spine. When she had to sit still she started making bunads. She is 100% well again now, and loves the bunad sewing lifestyle. That type of person is crucial for the survival of our national costumes and I'm thrilled she wants to do it! :) And she is really good, too!
Ane has a "Rondane stakk" and Liv has a "Damask stakk. They are traditionally from the Gudbrandsdalen region.
They were laughing and joking, and we got some good pictures even though the light slowely had to give in to the night.
Practicing "sending kisses".
Even doing a little horseback riding!
LOOK at these details! She even embroidered "LS" on it for her initials!! Wow.
Liv looks like a little woman! He he...
It's not easy to make the scarf stay on!
Don't you just LOVE the mittens? She has hand embroidered those, too! And she said she worked on it every night for a whole week!!! Wholy macarony.
The runaway bunad model... :)
It's pretty cool to see the outfits in mini version, huh? This one is made so I can "take it down" so it will fit until she is maybe10 years old!
Thanks sooo much, Ane!!! You can check out her webpage at www.stakkestuggu.no and she does ship internationally if you want to order your hand embroidered mittens! :) She makes them for adults, too, and I sure would like a pair :)
