5th year wedding anniversary, a farm festival and a dead horse...our week in a nutshell.
When Kristoffer and I got married exactly 5 years ago now, we promised "for better or for worse" and this week sure had both.
We had to put down our Lipizzan mare, Capra VII, at the age of 18. It was very tough for me; I cried for days. Even though I know it's "just a horse," she was part of our farm family. I spent the last evening in the stables, and when it was gonna take place, I ran off deep in the forest and stayed there for the day - just looking out on the water. Having animals brings a lot of joy and fun, but it comes with a responsibility that you need to make hard decisions if necessary. Lately her life was filled with so much more pain and very little joy, so we did make the right choice, no matter how hard it was.
Remember I told you about the art photographer that took pictures of me last weekend? That was before we realized how bad Capra's legs were, and the pictures were taken in joy. Look at this that the sweet Mona sent me when I told her about Capra yesterday! I´m very glad they took them!!
Thank you for all the wonderful years together, dear Capra-- I feel you are still with us <3 We´ll try to focus on the joy of your life more than the sadness that you are not with us anymore.
