What says Cinderella more than riding a white horse to the King's castle? And the whole country will be watching!
OH MY GOSH! Remember my recent Cinderella video I posted for fun? Well, it's blowing up here in Norway ;) Last week, I was in all of the national newspapers! :P And now, it's really happening...
Every year during Christmas, we watch this movie called "Three Nuts to Cinderalla" like I told you about before. I ride my white horses like she does and pretend I'm her, riding off into my perfect fairy tale.
But what started out as more of a joke is now becoming a reality... I'm actually riding a white horse to the King's party tomorrow!
At first, I thought I'd go all in and ride from our farm to Oslo, our capital, but this is 100 kilometers away and would take 4 days... and Cinderella in 2016 doesn't have time for that! Also, one of my horses just passed away, so it wasn't the best circumtances for that.
Time for a new plan! Luckily, my good friend, Linn, was able to get me a white "stunt horse" instead :D
The horse even has it's own Facebook page!
So now we had the transport covered, but was I allowed to do this?
It would be a shame to have everything ready to go and then right as I'm starting my Cinderella moment, I'm stopped by the police in Oslo...
So I had to make sure we were go for green!
There were so many people coming to the King's garden party that they didn't think it was safe for me to ride all the way up to the castle in case something happened.
Instead, I was able to the crossing below the castle, which would give us pictures with the castle still in the background so I was happy ;)
But what should I wear to the Royal Palace? What would Cinderella do?
It's the King's garden party, outside, a couple of hours in the middle of the day, and the invitation said "Semi-formal"...hmm this was tough!
I was just another guest so I didn't want to take up too much attention with a ball gown, but I didn't want to be too informal either! So I tossed the magic chestnuts in the air like Cinderella did to help me decide...
And BAM! I got my answer! My style is locally inspired from stores in my valley and Norwegian design with a little "princess" to top it off so I decided to go visit them to see what magical fashion I could find. ;)
I went to Soria Moria Interiør close to my home, Carissimo in Flå, and Cera in Vestfossen. I put together a little from my visit with them, along with a few things I had already and some shoes that I bought this spring that scream "Cinderella"...don't you think? :P Hehe
These Cinderella shoes probably won't fare too well on the grass... so I'll just have to go barefoot part of the time. It is only two hours and that's what I get for wearing rubber boots more than high heels! :D
Last question: helmet or no helmet? Do I have to?
Yes, Live, function over fashion this time! Helmet it is, and I do wear one 99% of the time while riding... But maybe I could "ride home" with Capitan and take some fashion-over-function photos? :)
Look at this beauty ;)
And he'll match the Royal theme with his own crown-and-pearls headband I got from a reader of the blog who makes these for horses! :D
And for our gracious King, I thought we'd give him a little anniversary gift! I thought he's done a pretty good job the past 25 years so he could get the pride of the farm- HAPPYPIG! Think they'll be happy? ;)
On the new moon of September 1st, the saga begins... so stay tuned!
Follow the story in the Norwegian media! It should be a blast!
It starts with Good Morning Norway (God Morgen Norge) from 7 AM-8 AM on Thursday, and NRK is going to film me when I ride... :)
